LCD Advice

He came, he asked me questions, I answered, he said he “reset the main board”, and then he said he was ordering me a new one because he said that was most likely the problem.

I have posted my symptoms here before for guidance and I will now do it again:

1) Sounds goes in and out when watching HD channels at times on my new Sharp Aquos 42inch LCD TV. When I go to the regular channel the sound is fine. After a half hour or so the sound returns to normal on the HD channel.

2) The TV will stop working. The TV will stay on, channels can be changed through the cable box but the volume buttons on the remote don’t work, the buttons on the TV don’t work, you can’t turn it on or off. I have to unplug the TV and then plug it back in for it to work correctly again.

OK, there it is. What do you techies think? Am I gonna have a functioning TV after this “main board” is replaced or am I gonna be seeing a whole lot of this tech for the foreseeable future?

I am trying to display my laptop on my Sharp Aquos 42″ LCD HDTV with a VGA cable. However I can’t seem to get it to work. It won’t let me change the input signal. Any ideas?

Hi! I’ve been doing everything I can to improve the standard dvd playback quality on my new HDTV. My dvd player is a progressive scan Onkyo, and my TV is a 32″ 720p Sharp Aquos. I’m using component connections with the appropriate cables. I’ve even been switching the progressive scan OFF on my dvd player and turning the “film mode” on in the TV, which accomplishes basically the same thing, at a different stage to see if my TV does a better job at de-interlacing.

Either way, the image on my TV is very blocky. I’ve been testing it out with various Pixar movies since they’re pretty much flawless. In comparison, my old 4:3 CRT TV puts out a much crisper, stable image. HD channels are brilliantly clear.

PS- For those who know Sharp, the TV won’t let me fiddle with the 3D Y/C comb filter option at all. It’s always grayed out.

I won a 46″ Sharp Aquos from a sweepstakes and I’m planning on buying a PS3. What would be the best surge protector to get? Also, what’s the average price for a good quality one?

I have a 37 inch Sharp Aquos LCD and it supports HD, now i was thinking of getting the HD package with Rogers, but i wanted to know if it’s worth it. I keep watching shows that say “now showing in HD” so does that me if i have the HD package and watch WWE Raw or Ellen or CSI it will come up in HD, or do i have to buy special channels for every show - Example (Raw is on chanel 53 right now, but if i get the HD package will it be a different channel, or will i watch it in HD automatically?) I know i will have access to the movie network in HD, but what else?
