The TV is 1 yr old, Sharp Aquos, 42 inch
It turns on, doesn’t play DVDs, or show cable TV
DVD player and Cable is working
Everything plugged in correctly
When I turn it on, and press the menu button, shades of color appear in place of the menu box…

I bought a 40gb PS3 last week and have a weird issue with the 1080p output using an 8ft long HDMI cable. When I set the PS3 to 1080p I get a bunch of red lines and white flashes but when I put the settings at 1080i or below there are no issues. I experimented with a another 8ft long HDMI cable and had the same issue. I used these same cables on an upconverting 1080p dvd player without any issues. I tried a 3ft HDMI cable at 1080p and had no picture issues. It seems to only be the long HDMI cables that are having issues with 1080p. What are my options to fix this? Would a name brand HDMI cord do better job carrying the signal then these generic HDMI cables I bought off ebay? Just for more information my TV is a 46″ Sharp Aquos LCD.
